Happy Birthday, Savannah!

Today Savannah is 6 years old! I know I say this with each kid's birthday, but I can't believe she's six already! She looked like such a big girl this morning as she got ready for school and was so excited to share the treats we'd made for her class.

I got out my 2 3/8" Wood Stamper with Bonus Font and Center as well as my Celebrations Demi Phrase set to stamp the Happy Birthday To You Savannah. You can find both of these JustRite sets at Stamper's Dream. We colored the cupcakes with markers and added glue to the tops and dunked them in Dazzling Diamonds glitter. We added Dew Drops for the cherries and then added them to the toppers of the treat bags. Savannah always loves stuffing the treat bags and then adding the toppers. She couldn't wait to give them out to her class. . .and I can't wait until she gets home so I can ask how they liked them! :)

Prettie Wednesday

Today, the Prettie Girls are posting Jackie's challenge to alter something! The hop starts with Christie, so head on over there if you didn't start there.
Altering is not something I do often. When I do, I usually do simple little things like this. Savannah LOVES these Icebreaker Sours candies. I thought I would "dress up" the container a bit for her, so that's what I decided to alter. I added some ribbon along the side of the container. When she takes off the top, she can always use that for a bookmark or to make a card to send along to someone else. :) By the way, I used the Nestful of Love set that is going to be released tomorrow night at Paper Pretties! Hope to see you at the release party at 8pm Eastern!

We'd LOVE to see what you alter! How to Enter: alter something using any Paper Pretties stamp set(s) you have. Upload the card to the Paper Pretties gallery. Please include it in the Weekly Challenges album and use keyword PWC71.

Now, hop on over to Jana to see what she's altered! SUPPLIES USED: Stamps- Nestful of Love (Paper Pretties); Paper- Metallic Stack (DCWV); Accessories- Plain and Scallop Circle Nestabilities (Spellbinders), grosgrain ribbon (Darice), Copic markers

Trick or Treat

As I was leafing through my last Stampin' Success magazine, I really liked the "A la card" layout and thought it would work well with this Witch Way to the Treats set from JustRite Stampers. I only used the centers for the "background" piece. Then I sponged around the stamped images. The finishing touch was the ribbon and the Trick or Treat tag.

You can find this set along with LOTS of other JustRite products at Stamper's Dream. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day! SUPPLIES USED: Stamps- Witch Way to the Treats (JustRite Stampers); Ink- Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko), Crushed Curry (SU); Paper- Crushed Curry, Basic Black (SU); Accessories- Copic markers, circle and scalloped circle punches (SU), ribbon (May Arts); Finished card measures 4.25"x5.5"

Friendly Sunflowers and Simple Boo

Here are a couple of cards I made using some sets from Our Craft Lounge.

The first card uses one of my favorite sets, Friendly Flowers. As you know, sunflowers are my favorite flower, so that's one reason I just LOVE this set. The other is because of the sentiments. I just love how their made to fit along the stem or the leaves of the flowers you create. So cute. I, of course, I had to make this card all in sunflower colors. :)

The second card is just a simple Halloween card. It uses the Spook-tacular set. I think this spider is just too cute. Savannah LOVES this set and we spent a bit of the weekend stamping Halloween cards using this set. It was very interesting for me to see how she used some of the pieces of this set. For instance, she used the candycorn border as a frame. Very clever, I think. . .especially because I never would have thought of that! She's at school right now, but she would be so thrilled to know that I posted one of her cards on my blog! LOL She loves taking pictures of her cards after she finishes them. :) Funny what they learn, huh? Hope you enjoyed the cards and thanks for stopping by! SUPPLIES USED: Stamps- Spook-tacular, Friendly Flowers (Our Craft Lounge); Ink- Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko), Whisper White Craft (SU), Burnt Umber (Palette), Crushed Curry (SU); Paper- Choc. Chip, Summer Sun, Very Vanilla, Basic Black (SU); Accessories- blender pen, Choc. Chip grosgrain (SU), paper piercer, Choc. Chip marker; Finished cards measure 5.5"x 4.25"

Another Prettie Peek

On Thursday, October 1st at 8pm Eastern, Paper Pretties will be having their next Prettie Pajama Party and will be releasing 9 new images and revealing the next Stamp of the Month!
Here's a peek of Make a Wish. Isn't Sophia adorable? Perfect for any little girl's birthday! The other day, I came across Amy Sheffer's Paper Pleating Tutorial and thought it would work perfectly and add such a nice detail to this card. I used some Pearlized White cardstock for the paper pleating, so it gives a nice sparkle along with the Dazzling Diamonds I added to Sophia's dress.
We'd LOVE for you to join us at the release party on October 1st! You can find us in the Paper Pretties forum starting at 8pm Eastern on October 1st. If you'd like to see a couple more sneak peeks, visit Christie and Danielle today! Thanks for stopping by and have a great day! SUPPLIES USED: Stamps- Make a Wish (Paper Pretties); Paper- Nana's Nursery Stack (DCWV), Pearlized White cardstock (Paper Accents); Accessories- Plain Circle Nestabilities (Spellbinders), cream grosgrain (Darice), Copic markers, Dazzling Diamonds glitter (SU); Finished card measures 5.5"x4.25"

Soft Snow

I have some Flower Soft creations for you today! I specifically used the Polar White Flower Soft, which I LOVE! It adds such a nice detail to "snowy" cards.

This first card uses the Cute Christmas Festive Teddies Toppers as well as the Cute Christmas Die Cut Sentiments. What I love most about these toppers is that they come with die cut layers, so you can layer different parts of the original image to give dimension. Here is a closeup so you can see how the bears are layered and the music in the one bear's hand is layered again. It adds so much dimension to the card. . .like you could just walk into the scene!

The second card is very simple and uses lots of dry embossing. The background is embossed using the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder. The focal image is from the Christmas Set of embossing folders from Sizzix. The scene is a little snow village. I embossed the image, then cut it out. I attached it to the card and lined the edges with Polar White Flower Soft. It kind of made me think of windows when it's snowing and how the snow collects in the edges of the window.

Hope you're having a wonderful weekend! Thanks for stopping by! SUPPLIES USED: Cute Christmas Toppers (Flower Soft); Pure Poppy (PTI), Soft Sky (SU); Polar White Flower Soft, Christmas Embossing set (Sizzix), Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder (Provocraft); Finished cards measure 5.5"x 4.25"

Christmas JustRite

Here are a couple of super simple, but elegant cards just for Christmas. If you're like me, your Christmas card list is pretty long, so you can't spend tons of time on each card. Using some of my JustRite Christmas sets has made that possible.

For this first card, I used the Christmas Joy set from JustRite Stampers. I paired it up with some metallic paper and a Sizzix snowflake embossing folder to keep it simple, but pretty.

For my second card, I used the A Merry Little Christmas set, also paired with some embossing. I used the Lace Tree Cuttlebug folder for this one. It makes a great background image to be paired with a sentiment.

You can find both of these JustRite sets at Stamper's Dream, along with lots of other JustRite products! Keep your Christmas cards quick and simple! Thanks for stopping by. Hope you're having a great weekend! SUPPLIES USED: Stamps- A Merry Little Christmas, Christmas Joy (JustRite Stampers); Ink- Versamark, Onyx Black (Versafine), Plum Pudding (PTI); Paper- Metallic Stack (DCWV), white (Georgia-Pacific); Accessories- circle and scallop circle punches (Marvy Uchida), Plain and Scallop Oval Nestabilities (Spellbinders), ribbon (Darice), Snowflake embossing folder (Sizzix), Lace Tree Cuttebug folder (Provocraft); Finished cards measure 5.5"x 4.25"

Weekend Sketch Challenge #99

It's Friday and time for another Weekend Sketch Challenge! If you play along (and we hope you will), please use WSC99 in the keyword section if you upload to SCS.

For my card today, I used Spook-tacular from Our Craft Lounge. I thought this cat would be cute in the "moon" shape within the sketch. I paper pieced the hat to match the background of the card.

Be sure to check out what Beate, Cambria, Jenn, Lori and Sharon have created using this sketch. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend! SUPPLIES USED: Stamps- Spook-tacular (Our Craft Lounge); Ink- Onyx Black (Versafine); Paper- Eerie (Basic Grey), Basic Black (SU), Intense Kiwi (Prism); Accessories- circle and scallop circle punches (Marvy-Uchida), paper piercer; Finished card measures 6"x3"

New Verve!

Here are some cards I created using sets from the newest Verve release.

This first card uses the newest in the Plain Jane line, 1Chronicles 16:34. I used some Early Bird patterned paper from Cosmo Cricket. The layout is pretty simple adding only Dew Drops and ribbon for embellishment.

The second card uses the set Starstruck along with some My Mind's Eye paper and a punched out star as the focal point. This card uses Fall To Layout #59.

I just LOVE this next set, You Rock. I find myself using this sentiment quite often, so sending cards like this out is something I would do a lot!

A card just wouldn't be MY card if it had tons of layers! LOL This card, using Harvest Blessings is my favorite kind of card. . .clean, simple, no layers, a little paper piercing, ribbon and embossing! I LOVE using an embossed frame to give simple cards a little pizzaz.

Head on over to Verve Stamps to take advantage of the Autumn Sale and the New Release Bundle! Sale prices are good through September 30th while supplies last!

Naughty or Nice?

I just LOVED the Fall To Layout #60 and thought this pair of legs from the Punchy Potions set from Taylored Expressions would work perfectly! I used a sentiment from the A Year of Sweet Sentiments set. I added some Stardust Stickles to the skirt and used an EK Success border punch along the bottom.

Thanks for stopping by! SUPPLIES USED: Stamps- Punchy Potions, A Year of Sweet Sentiments (Taylored Expressions); Ink- Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko); Paper- Halloween Key Ingredients (Taylored Expressions); Accessories- Copic markers, border punch (EK Success), Stardust Stickles, corner rounder; Finished card measures 5.5"x4.25"

Prettie Wednesday

Today, the Prettie Girls are posting Christie's challenge to use fun foam! The hop starts with Christie, so head on over there if you didn't start there. I don't think I've ever used fun foam on a card. I've made fun foam projects with the kids, but it's never translated to cardmaking until now! LOL You may be wondering WHERE on my card is the fun foam. Well, I ran it through my Cuttlebug with a Long Scallop Rectangle Nestabilities die. . .so it's the scalloped matte for the focal image. The fun foam works REALLY well with Nestabilities dies. It also adds some dimension to the card! Very cool. I may have to use this a little more. I've got a whole package left from when I did a frame project with Savannah. For this card, I used the Trim the Tree set and a sentiment from Snowflake Kisses. We'd LOVE to see what YOU create using fun foam! We'll pick a winner next Tuesday.

How to Enter: make a card using fun foam and any Paper Pretties stamp set(s) you have. Upload the card to the Paper Pretties gallery. Please include it in the Weekly Challenges album and use keyword PWC70. Your next stop on the hop is over to see Jana!

Are you ready for another Paper Pretties release? Well, it's happening next Thursday, October 1st in the Paper Pretties forums! There are quite a few new sets coming that are just ADORABLE! Sneak peeks start tomorrow on a couple of Prettie Girl blogs and will continue until the release, so stayed tuned! Thanks for stopping by today! Have a wonderful day! SUPPLIES USED: Stamps- Trim the Tree, Snowflake Kisses (Paper Pretties); Ink- Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko); Paper- Dovecraft; Accessories- Copic markers, fun foam, Long Rectangle Scallop Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Certainly Celery grosgrain (SU), flower button; Finished card measures 5.5"x4.25"

Lift Your Spirits

Here's a cute little image and sentiment that are perfect for making someone smile. This is the Rocco Reach cling stamp by Stampendous. Isn't he a cute little raccoon? I used some paper from the Indian Summer Fall Stack for my card. I colored Rocco in with Copic markers. I added some paper piercing and faux stitching along with some Chocolate Chip grosgrain.

You can find this stamp at Stamper's Dream! Thanks for stopping by today and have a great day! September 20th Key Ingredients

Another Key Ingredients kit is available at Taylored Expressions today! Half of the Baker's Dozen has some wonderful eye candy to show off the September 20th Key Ingredients! Taylor challenged us to be inspired by the name of the patterned paper. . .Kitchen Spice, and the only required element was to use distressing.

I decided to create a recipe book and jumbo paperclip magnet. For the recipe book, I used some index cards, chipboard and my Bind It All. I covered the chipboard with the papers and punched the different pieces (covers and inner pages) using my Bind It All. Remember those Orange Glittered Alpha Chipboard that the Baker's Dozen used during the last release as part of the Halloween Bundles? Well, I covered mine using Jumbo Java VersaMagic ink and clear embossing powder. It worked out really well because it gives them a distressed look since a tiny bit of the orange still peeks through.

The jumbo paperclip simply has a big round magnet attached to the back. It's perfect for holding recipes that you may have clipped out of a magazine, or even for reminders for the day (like I use it).
In case you didn't know, Taylored Expressions is now offering a monthly charge program. So instead of paying for all 3 or 6 months upfront, you will be charged on the 15th of each month of your subscription. The 6 month subscription breaks down to just $14.95 a month plus shipping! That is a fantastic value for all you get in the package! I have to say, if I'm at a loss as to how to start a card when it comes to colors, I always reach for my Key Ingredients kits because all of the coordinating products are right there. . .no thinking involved! I know if you try them, you'll LOVE them! :)
Be sure to see what the rest of the Baker's Dozen has to show you today!

Thanks for stopping by today and have a wonderful day! SUPPLIES USED: Stamps- Sweets for the Sweet (Paper Pretties); Ink- Burnt Umber (Palette), Crushed Curry (SU), Jumbo Java (VersaMagic); Paper- September 20th Key Ingredients Kit (Taylored Expressions); Accessories- Glittered Orange Alpha Chipboard, ribbon from KI (Taylored Expressions), jumbo paperclip

Arwen's First Day

Last week, Arwen had her first day of preschool and I was finally able to upload the pictures from my camera. She LOVES preschool and I am so happy she finally has something that's "not 'vannah's"! LOL She is forever wanting to be her big sister Savannah and gets really excited when she gets to go somewhere with mommy or daddy WITHOUT Savannah. I'm so glad that she loves school and feels like she has her own thing now. She's so cute and I try really hard not to make her feel like the "middle child", but you can definitely tell she has that complex! Here she is on her first day! The second picture is with her big sister at Arwen's request! :) Thanks for letting me share!

Prettie Wednesday

This week the Prettie Girls are posting their creations for my challenge. . .to use this picture as inspiration. I LOVE southwest colors. I chose to use the colors as well as the shapes in this picture for my card. I thought the Houndstooth Cuttlebug folder worked well for this. I used the Pick of the Patch set from Paper Pretties for my card. This is an older set, but still adorable and perfect for this time of year.

The hop started with Christie, so head there if you didn't start there. Hopefully you got here from Danielle's blog. Next you'll hop on over to see Jana! I can't wait to see what the girls came up with for this challenge! :)

Boo!

It's getting to be time to start thinking about Halloween cards. I've always been so bad about sending Halloween cards, but I've always been really good about buying new Halloween stamps! LOL How does that work? I've been trying to send out more cards for this occasion in the last couple years. I am getting better! The girls LOVE putting together cards and Halloween is no different. I always have to make a few extra pieces (in this case, pumpkin circles) because they always want to keep a part of the card. :)

For this simple little number, I used the Pumpkin Grin cling stamp from Stampendous. You can find this adorable little pumpkin at Stamper's Dream. Next on my list is to start Halloween treats for school. :) Thanks for stopping by today! SUPPLIES USED: Stamps- Pumpkin Grin (Stampendous); Ink- Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko); Paper- Just Chillin' Girl (Making Memories), Basic Black (SU); Accessories- Copic markers, ribbon (SU), border punch (EK Success), circle and scallop circle punches (Marvy Uchida), paper piercer; Finished card measures 4.25"x5.5"

Weekend Sketch Challenge #97

It's Friday and time for another Weekend Sketch Challenge!
For this sketch, I used the The Places You'll Go set from Taylored Expressions. I just LOVE this set. . .especially having preschool and kindergarten-aged children! I omitted the sentiment that goes with the rocket so that I could use another sentiment in the set. I colored the image with Copic markers. I cut the focal circle piece and matte using Plain Circle Nestabilities. I added some piercings around the circle and lined them using a white gel pen. I added some Old Olive grosgrain as a finishing touch.

OCL Spotlight of the Week

I wanted to share with you a couple of cards I made using the Spotlight of the Week set at Our Craft Lounge, Friendly Flowers. This set comes in both clear and cling rubber. It's such a happy set and I just LOVE using it. I really like how the sentiments are made to fit the curve of the leaf and stem. So cute.
For the first card, I just made it clean and simple. I used my Labels 8 Nestabilities to emboss a frame on the card. I masked the frame and stamped and sponged inside the frame. I colored the image with Copic markers and added some Dew Drops for a finishing touch.

My second card uses the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder. I popped the flower center up on foam dimensionals and made a grass border.

Thanks for stopping by today and have a great day! SUPPLIES USED: Stamps- Friendly Flowers (Our Craft Lounge); Ink- Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko), Crushed Curry (SU); Paper- white (Georgia-Pacific), Melon Mambo, Wild Wasabi (SU); Accessories: Copic markers, Labels 8 Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder (Provocraft), Dew Drops (The Robin's Nest); Finished cards measure 5.5"x4.25"

Impression Obsession Week at Stamper's Dream!

It's Day Two of Impression Obsession Week at Stamper's Dream !

For today's card, I used the Let It Snow clear stamp set. Isn't this snowman image funny? It just cracks me up. :) I used the Snowflake Cuttlebug folder to create the frame. I smeared white craft ink all over the inside of the Cuttlebug folder first. The result is this "frosted" look. I colored the scene using Copic markers and added some Polar White Flower Soft for both the snow on the ground and "falling snow" that I added.

Here is the schedule for the rest of the week so you can check out what the rest of the Dream Team has to show you!

Impression Obsession Week at Stamper's Dream!

It's Impression Obsession Week at Stamper's Dream and the Dream Team has some wonderful eye candy to show you!

For my card today, I used the Partridge in a Bare Tree stamp. I used a sentiment from the Let It Snow clear stamp set, both from Impression Obsession. This image is so simple and sweet. You can easily color the stamp with markers so that the bird is a different color. I used the Labels 4 Nestabilities to make a frame for the image and used the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder to emboss the frame. For a finishing touch, I added some Polar White Flower Soft to the image.

Be sure to see what Cammie and Michelle have to show you today too! Thanks for stopping by!
